New Project: B\u00fcrgerspital Basel relies on plano<\/strong><\/p>\n

With around 1,600 employees working across residential facilities, workshops, care, and support services, B\u00fcrgerspital Basel (BSB) is not only a social institution with a long-standing tradition, but also a complex employer. Those who plan, organize, and provide care here know: where many people work for people, effective planning is essential. To address exactly this, BSB has decided to fully digitize its workforce management \u2013 with plano.<\/strong><\/p>\n

After an intensive selection process \u2013 including requirement specifications, workshops, and thorough analyses \u2013 the decision was made in June 2025: plano WFM, represented by Allegion International AG, will replace the previously separate systems for time recording<\/strong><\/a> and staff planning<\/strong><\/a> with a fully integrated solution.<\/p>\n

The goal:<\/strong> eliminate inefficiencies and isolated solutions in favor of a streamlined, connected system that meets both operational demands and employee needs. And it\u2019s an ambitious project: 1,600 employees at BSB will soon record their working hours using plano \u2013 digitally, on the go, and in full compliance with legal standards. Around 700 staff members in departments with specific scheduling needs will additionally be scheduled via the plano Roster<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 supported by the plano Optimizer<\/strong><\/a>, which uses intelligent algorithms to generate fair and efficient shift schedules. Also part of the package are modules for time management<\/strong><\/a>, reporting<\/strong>, and the myplano<\/strong><\/a> app, which gives employees more autonomy when it comes to shifts, requests, and time accounts.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s particularly exciting:<\/strong> The new system supports not only traditional scheduling structures but also modern approaches like employee self-scheduling \u2013 a major step toward more transparency, participation, and flexibility in day-to-day work. This is a key advantage, especially in social institutions with shift operations and ever-changing requirements.<\/p>\n

The project has now officially launched, and a dedicated project team is currently being assembled \u2013 including Markus Kroneberger, an experienced project manager who will oversee the initiative from the very beginning.<\/p>\n

With this move, B\u00fcrgerspital Basel is not only taking a significant step toward a digital future but also making a clear statement for modern workforce organization \u2013 one where operational efficiency and employee satisfaction go hand in hand.<\/p>\n
