What once began in a small garage in Ilmenau is now a success story in workforce management: Robert Schüler founded plano in 2006 with the vision of using modern software solutions to make the deployment of manpower in companies more efficient and smarter and to optimize personnel processes – and with success.
In the meantime, plano has developed from a start-up to an established company with over 130 employees and is firmly rooted in Ilmenau. With our dedicated team, we support companies of all sizes and from a wide range of industries in optimizing their staff scheduling, time recording, time management, personnel requirements planning and qualification management.
With our plano WFM brand, we create practical solutions that can be flexibly adapted to individual company structures – from medium-sized companies to international corporations. 2006
Foundation
Robert Schüler founds the company plano Robert Schüler, which specializes in consulting, development and implementation of software solutions for personnel resource planning and workforce management with a modular product range. With all important areas such as capacity planning, time recording and time management, workforce scheduling and options for managing training and qualifications, plano ensures that the use of human resources in companies is significantly improved.

2012
plano Campus
Our first plano Campus is launched.
29 companies from various industries use our networking event in Ilmenau to learn the latest about our workforce management products and to network.

2014
plano Self Rostering
We are taking a big step towards employee participation:
With the new plano Self Rostering module, we are launching a forward-looking tool that gives employees the opportunity to schedule themselves as part of personnel scheduling.

2016
We celebrate 10 years of plano.
With over 300 customers in 4 countries, we have become a relevant provider of workforce management software.
Our powerful solution is now used in companies with up to 180,000 employees.
TIS Roster integration
With the TIS Roster integration, it is now possible to determine personnel requirements directly in the planning interface. The integration enables our customers to reliably determine their staffing requirements and ensures that overstaffing and understaffing are avoided in the company.

2017
Online help
Our comprehensive online help is launched. Users can quickly and easily find all the important information and explanations on how to use our workforce management software.

2018
Realtime Adherence
plano fully integrates real-time adherence into the planning interface and enables team leaders, e.g. in call centers, to get a quick overview of adherence to the duty roster in real time.

2020
Second office building
We open our second office building in Ilmenau. With over 80 employees, plano is now one of the most important employers in Ilmenau.

2022
Champion in personnel scheduling
We are recognized as a champion in personnel scheduling in the Professional User Ratings. For the second time in a row, we achieved top scores in 8 provider- and solution-based categories in a survey of over 3,000 users.

2023
Foundation of plano solutions gmbh
As a subsidiary of the Allegion Group, plano adds strong and powerful workforce management to Allegion`s range of solutions for access control, visitor management and time management/time recording. With the new plano WFM brand, plano is also undergoing a visual change: With a new logo and a new website, among other things, we now have a fresh new look.
